The East Bay Diaper Bank is a non-profit foundation that provides diapers at no cost to those in need. We provide donated diapers and purchase diapers in bulk through generous donations. We provide the diapers to:
School family resource centers
Shelters
Somehow every issue that affects human life is, at some point, affected by the need for diapers. We know that people and families who need diapers probably need other social services as well. Instead of reinventing another social service delivery system, we provide diapers to existing organizations that work with people in need.
For impoverished families, spending an average of $100 a month on diapers is excessive; this expense is low on their list of priorities, below such costs as food, gas, and rent. As a result, parents often end up allowing children to wear the diapers for too long during the day, or try to clean and reuse disposable diapers, putting toddlers at risk for staph and other infections.
